GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Nairobi is Kenya’s capital city. In addition to its urban core, the city has its own National Park, a large game reserve known for breeding endangered black rhinos and home to giraffes and zebras. Next to it is a well-regarded elephant orphanage operated by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Nairobi is often used as a jumping-off point for safari trips elsewhere in Kenya.

WORKING - THE AFRICOVER PROJECT
Africover is a United Nations project which collects and collates geographical information on Africa using satellites. It gathers information on land cover, land use and other GIS data. One major usage of this system has been to provide flood warnings to governments and NGOs, who then pass the information onto farmers.
