ALCAZAR DEL COLON

The Alcázar de Colón, or Columbus Alcazar, is the oldest Viceregal residence in the Americas, and is part of the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo World Heritage Site.

CATEDRALE DE AMERICA

The Cathedral of Santa María la Menor, located in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo, is dedicated to St. Mary of the Incarnation. It is the oldest cathedral in the Americas, as its construction begun in 1512 and was completed in 1540. The Cathedral is fronted with a golden-tinted coral limestone façade, and it combines elements of both Gothic and Baroque with some lavish plateresque styles as exemplified by the high altar chiseled out of silver. It also contains an art collection of ancient woodcarvings, furnishings, funerary monuments, silver, and jewelry.

EL CONDE

Calle El Conde is an old street in the Colonial City of Santo Domingo. It is currently the only pedestrian street in town, filled with shops, hotels and restaurants. The first city hall and the first cathedral of the Americas are located here.

The National Pantheon was built in the years 1714-1746 by the Spaniard Geronimo Quezada y Garçon and was originally a Jesuit church. The structure was constructed in the neoclassic-renaissance style.
