GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Porvenir, known as the city "of strange trees", is the largest settlement in the Chilean half of the island of Tierra del Fuego. It is Chile's southernmost town, and has 4,734 inhabitants, including several thousand soldiers.

CHURCH SAN FRANCISCO DE SALES

Church San Francisco de Sales, a late 1800s building, is located in the square of Provenir.

MUSEO MUNICIPAL FERNANDO CORDERO RUSQUE

The Fernando Cordero Rusque Museum has a permanent exhibition of archeology, where you can see the mummified body of a native. You can also see a show about the fauna of Tierra del Fuego, and a photographic exhibit of the Onas or Selknam, the most important native group of the Magallanes.
