GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Abomey was the capital of the Kingdom of Dahomey from the 17th to 19th centuries, and is home to 12 royal palaces from that period (now mostly in ruins).

FABIO'S REVIEW

Red-Living
Green-Visiting

Abomey is a bit far from the southern coast (where most tourist attractions are), but worth a visit due to the Royal palaces of the Dahomey Kingdom. The trip itself from Cotonou in the shared “bush-taxis” is an adventure in itself (grin).
