GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Ushuaia city is perched on a steep hill, is surrounded by the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel. It is the gateway to Antarctica cruises and tours to nearby Isla Yécapasela, known as “Penguin Island” for its penguin colonies.
FABIO'S REVIEW
The city in itself has no particular interest: it only serves as a base for exploring the Tierra del Fuego. It is also overpriced due to the large amount of tourists visiting it yearlong (due to the "end-of-the-world" BS) I recommend you stay there as little as possible. If you want to stay in the area for an extended period of time, cross the border and stay in Punta Arenas.
LOCATIONS EXPERIENCED
CITY CENTER
Ushuaia has long been described as the southernmost city in the world. The city has a museum describing its story, including its years as a prison colony. Wildlife attractions include local birds, penguins, seals, and orcas, many of these species colonizing islands in the Beagle Channel.
NAVAL BASE ( BASE NAVAL INTEGRADA ALMIRANTE BERISSO)
The Integrated Naval Base Admiral Berisso (Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego) (BNUS) is the southernmost port of the Armada Argentina, where it projects its power on the Argentinean side of the Beagle Channel. It is also the main port and logistics center for access to Argentine Antarctica.
