GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Uccelliera (aviary) was built in the 17th century by Girolamo Rainaldi: it features the heraldic symbols of the Borghese, eagles and dragons, depicted in the facade. According to historical documents dating back to 1616, it used to host rare and exotic birds. In the past centuries, many Roman villas had such an aviary.
