GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The park is named after General Bernardo O'Higgins, the first head of state of the Chile. It borders Los Glaciares National Park (Argentina) and Torres del Paine National Park, and is the largest of the protected areas in Chile, covering an area of 3,525,901 ha (8,712,691 acres).

2. GLACIER BALMACEDA

Glacier Balmaceda is a heavily glaciated mountain located in the Magallanes Region of Chile. It stands at the head of Última Esperanza Sound, in the south portion of the Bernardo O'Higgins National Park and near the mouth of the Serrano River.

3. REFUGE ESTANCIA PERALES

The "Estancia Perales" is a restaurant/hotel located about 50 kilometers from Puerto Natales, near the Glaciers Balmaceda and Serrano. It can be accessed by boat or by the Fjord road (during the summer). Rates start at 150 USD/night.
