Axim is a coastal town and the capital of the Nzema East Municipal district, in Ghana's Western Region. The city lies 64 kilometers west of the port city of Sekondi-Takoradi.

AXIM CITY

Axim city is divided into two parts: Upper Axim and Lower Axim. Fort Santo Antonio lies roughly on the division between the two parts, but closest to the centre of Upper Axim, the original European settlement.

BEACHES AND CANOA TRIPS

There are several sandy beaches in Axim. The waves in some beaches can be strong and suitable for surfers. You can rent a canoe and go on your own, or join experienced local fishermen on their sea fishing expeditions in wooden dugout canoes with outboard motors.

FORT ST. ANTONIO

Fort Saint Anthony was built by the Portuguese in 1515 near the town of Axim. In 1642, the Dutch captured the fort and subsequently made it part of the Dutch Gold Coast.

LOU MOON LODGE

Lou Moon lodge is located on a 24 acres land covered by jungle and forest, and lies amid a bay surrounded by sandy beaches.
