Southwest of Pasto is Las Lajas Sanctuary, a Gothic church built into a gorge.

IGLESIA NUESTRA SENORA DE LA MERCED

The history of the Temple of Our Lady of the Mercedes dates back to the beginning of the 17th century when the Mercedarian Order arrived in Pasto and erected a temple, recognized in America by its portal supported by golden lions. It venerated the image of the Virgen de las Mercedes, patroness of the capital of the department of Nariño.

The Plaza del Carnaval y la Cultura, also called Plaza del Carnaval , is a public space in the center of San Juan de Pasto that hosts the Carnival of Blacks and Whites every January.

TEMPLO DE SAN JUAN BAUTISTA

The San Juan Bautista temple is located in the center of the city and was its first cathedral. In colonial style, this church holds the remains of the Pastor of Independence Agustín Agualongo, as well as the image of San Juan Bautista that was used by Sebastian de Belalcázar to found Pasto in 1537.
